At first, it was because of my job – a part-time position with Tohu Whenua. Tohu Whenua (which translates to ‘landmarks’) are the places that capture our most significant moments in history, where all of us can learn more about our unique Kiwi heritage. Here is a selection of my favourite Tohu Whenua experiences. Kawarau Suspension Bridge was built 141 years ago to get heavy machinery and supplies to Central Otago’s goldfields. Otago Central Rail Trail is a popular 152 km cycle journey that follows the Otago Central railway line that once connected isolated communities in Central Otago with Dunedin.
