The Ontario government is providing free emergency child care for eligible health care and other frontline workers with school-aged children starting Apr. 10:07 a.m. Ontario is reporting a new record of 4,736 cases of COVID-19 and a third-wave high of 29 more deaths on Thursday. The public health unit says it needs to slow the spread of the virus in order to do contact tracing. The government said it will also help expand capacity by allowing the hospitals to transfer non-critical care patients to these general medicine beds. Intensive care units at both hospitals are at capacity and staff, including anesthesiologists and surgeons, are being redeployed to care for COVID-19 patients.
