“We’re pretty satisfied with the overall market situation. It will not put the people under pressure,” he said while briefing the media in Dhaka on Consumers Rights Day on Tuesday. However, he admitted that prices of some essentials did increase in some places. The minister claimed that prices of many items have not increased a week before start of the month of fasting on the Arabic calendar. He said the government has taken a firm stance against extortion of vehicles carrying goods, one of the reasons traders show for hiking prices.
