Eskimo lollies and Eskimo Pie ice cream bars will be renamed amid growing acknowledgement of the use of racial stereotyping by brands around the world. Tip Top is planning to rename its Eskimo Pie and remove the Eskimo character from the packaging. Dreyer's, owned by Froneri as is Tip Top, has also decided to change its Eskimo Pie branding. Dreyer's Eskimo Pie was patented by Christian Kent Nelson of Ohio and his business partner Russell C Stover in 1922, according to Smithsonian Magazine.
