(ALEX FRANKEL PHOTO) ALBANY — Since its inception in 1980, Tin Mountain Conservation Center is well-known for providing hands-on learning about the natural environment. The Tin Mountain nature programs are all designed with the Mount Washington region in mind, the area that students and families live, where visitors come to explore. Thanks to his Tin Mountain experiences, he has hiked to and stayed at every Appalachian Mountain Club hut in the White Mountain National Forest at least three times apiece. Bill Brochu, a former Tin Mountain trustee, said that he likes sending his grandchildren to Tin Mountain summer camp "so they will learn about the natural world. Thanks to community support, in 2006, the Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center was built.
