Sir, The Times education commission is a welcome development. There is much to put right in our education system and not just as schools seek to recover from the impact of the pandemic. I hope at the heart of the commission’s deliberations will be a sharp focus on how educational inequality can be tackled. Despite some progress, the stark correlation between social class and education attainment remains largely unbroken, from the early years through to higher education. That is a deep failing on the part of our education system.
