Now, Kwende Kefentse — also known as DJ Memetic — has composed a more political track about the relationship between the black community and police. The song, a remix of Running From Your Love featuring Bender, Lady C and Hyfidelik, is on Kefentse's latest album, Timekode X Vol. The intro to the song includes clips of television reporters reading news about black men shot and killed by police. And that in fact, just being me, in some way, was kind of dangerous," Kefentse recently told CBC Radio's Ottawa Morning. The Timekode dance party resumes Friday night at D'Afrique Restaurant & Bar on Laurier Avenue West.
