It's a cop-out position to state that Russia can at any time stop this war if it withdraws all its troops from Ukrainian land. Strategically, with regard to Black Sea access, Ukraine joining NATO would pose a direct threat to the sovereignty and national security of Russia. Clampdown"Fighting for freedom" and "sovereignty" are being bandied around, but these are elements that were elusive in Ukraine even before this war. Why not acknowledge the obvious - the US and NATO bit off more than they can chew. It's terrible what is happening to our fellow brothers and sisters in both Ukraine and Russia.
