When the Everton manager Marco Silva emerges from the tunnel at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon he will be greeted by a cacophony of boos. This did not damage his reputation for he had offers from both Watford and Crystal Palace to remain in the Premier League. Silva now had the platform and the funds to prove beyond any doubt he was good enough to thrive in the Premier League. There are problems throughout this Everton side, but the most glaring is their porous defence, which has already leaked 38 goals in the Premier League. Last season Everton conceded one in seven goals from a set piece, this season it has climbed to one in three goals.
