Timaru's public library is set to reopen next week following major repair and renovation work. While the council decided to reopen the Geraldine and Temuka libraries when the country moved to alert Level 2, it kept the Timaru library closed so repair work could take place. Correspondence released to Stuff under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act in September showed the council considered floating the option of demolishing the library building.
