Stephen Christopher Johnathan David Voight threw the first punch, striking his neighbour in the head and starting a brawl with multiple people jumping in to break up the pair. The 46-year-old was sentenced to four-and-a-half months’ community detention on his guilty pleas to common assault and driving whilst forbidden when he appeared before Judge Peter Rollo in the Timaru District Court on Wednesday. “He's keen to put this all behind him.”Judge Rollo encouraged Voight to “increase your zeal to rehabilitate yourself”.
