A Timaru man has received community detention for his eighth driving while suspended conviction. (File)An eighth driving while suspended breach has earned a Timaru man four months community detention. Owen Alexander Saunders, 38, had previously pleaded guility to driving while suspended on March 17, 2021, when he appeared for sentencing before Judge Joanna Maze at the Timaru District Court on Thursday. Sanders had been suspended from driving for three months on January 1, 2021, due to excess demerit points. “When spoken to, the defendant stated he took a turn driving out in the country on the way back from dropping someone at work.”Judge Maze noted it was Saunders’ eighth driving while suspended breach.
