Timaru man jailed for importing child sex doll

Child sex doll importer Stephen Heppleston leaving Timaru District Court in February 2018 after being remanded on bail for sentencing. The first New Zealander accused of importing a child sex doll has been jailed. Stephen Heppleston, 58, of Timaru was jailed for 18 months when he appeared in the Timaru District Court on Thursday on charges of importing a child sex doll and for possessing child sexual exploitation publications that included 135 images and 28 videos. Heppleston's was the first conviction of its type in New Zealand, the New Zealand Customs Service said. "Just because child sex dolls are available from overseas, it doesn't make them legal in New Zealand," Berry said.
