The Timaru man said his personal observations suggest that "greater than 60 per cent" of residential addresses within the boundaries of the Timaru township fall short of the council's expectation of "overhanging vegetation liable to obstruct". He thinks property owners should start doing their bit to tidy up. "When I go for my daily walk from West End to Washdyke, I notice several properties where the foliage overgrows its boundaries," Peters said. His concern prompted him to approach new Timaru District mayor Nigel Bowen about the issue. He thinks property owners should take it upon themselves to address the issue.
