The proposal is that council introduce, with consultation from the community, a Business Improvement District (BID) area and rate. Mytchall Bransgrove/Stuff Timaru CBD group chairman Nigel Gilkison supports the proposed creation of a Business Improvement District in Timaru. “Essentially, the CBD group would transform to running the BID.”Cross’s paper to council says Auckland Council, Wellington City Council and Christchurch City Council have developed BIDs.
