NAIROBI, Kenya (TBEN) –Ethiopia’s chief of Tigray forces said his fighters outside the region had been ordered to withdraw and return to the ailing federal state. “I have ordered the Tigray army units which are outside the Tigray borders to withdraw to the Tigray borders with immediate effect,” Debretsion said in the letter. Large towns in the neighboring regions of Amhara and Afar have been recaptured by Ethiopian forces, forcing Tigray fighters to retreat further into their area. Getachew Reda, spokesperson for the Tigray region, confirmed on Monday that the withdrawal was complete. Tigray forces say they are fighting to lift the blockade of their people.
