ANSHUMAN PHADIKARMidnapore/Calcutta: The carcass of the tiger hunted down by tribal villagers in West Midnapore's Baghgora forest has been found to have multiple skull fractures that were possibly caused by repeated blows to the head with blunt objects. "The fractures are indicative of the full-grown male tiger being attacked by several people with possibly long bamboo sticks," a senior forest official in Calcutta said, citing the post-mortem report. The report states that these fractures and a spear injury to the neck caused the tiger's death. The viscera report, which is expected in a few days, will reveal whether the tiger had been poisoned. A forest official described the failed attempt to tranquillise and capture the tiger when it was briefly trapped in a ditch on May 30 as "a big blunder".
