LA JOLLA, Calif. — Tiger Woods spent much of the back nine on Sunday wondering why people were yelling, “Do it for Mamba!”Locked into his pursuit of a record-breaking 83rd PGA Tour win, caddie Joe LaCava opted not to share the news of basketball great Kobe Bryant’s death with Woods during the round. Tiger found out as he walked off the 18th green, after finishing in a tie for ninth at 9-under par. The golf great explained that the pair would occasionally hang out when Kobe was still playing in the NBA and Woods had a home in California. After the Lakers star retired, Woods and Bryant from time to time worked out together at the same gym. From the outside, Kobe, like Tiger, often made his greatness look easy.
