Former long-serving New Zealand coach Gordon Tietjens has taken charge of Samoa's sevens side. Meanwhile, the man he replaced, Damian McGrath, was appointed as the Canada sevens coach. Tietjens coached New Zealand for 22 years, winning 12 world sevens series, two World Cup Sevens, and four Commonwealth Games. McGrath coached Samoa in May to the Paris Sevens title, its first world series triumph in three years. The next world series opens on Dec. 2 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
