Tia and her sister Tamera were the stars of 90s hit Sister, Sister, and Tia points out that as they grew into their teenage years they more often wore their hair straight. Now Tia has told that they often got out the straighteners after being told at various auditions that their hair was "distracting." Writing in ELLE's State of Black Beauty package, Tia explains: "In this business, if I had my hair curly, I was told, 'Can you pull that back?' Now Tia has shrugged off those feelings as she "embraces and celebrates" her natural beauty. My mother walked in the house model with us asking for a brochure.
