Thwarted Lobster Heist Ends With a Crash in Boston

A lobster company’s refrigerated truck, loaded with $10,000 worth of live shellfish, was idling in a loading dock when a South Boston man commandeered it and sped off, the authorities said. Employees of the lobster company chased the truck down. The man, Stephen Woodard, 29, of Charlestown, crashed the truck into two vehicles, and the employees held him until the police arrived, the authorities said. Mr. Woodard was arrested and charged with one count of motor larceny, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of threatening to commit a crime. A few minutes into Tuesday, in the North Boston neighborhood of Charlestown, the Buy New England Lobsters company’s night crew was sorting through a load of recently caught lobsters, said Harrison Jones, the director of operations at the company.
