Flooding has been reported in the Wellington suburbs of Aro Valley and Lyall Bay after thunderstorms and heavy rainfall lashed the capital overnight. A slow moving front brought heavy rain warnings as it settled over Wellington, southern Wairarapa, Nelson and Marlborough. “The wild weather is on the way out,” Corrigan said. Later, hail and thunderstorms were predicted over northeastern parts of the North Island. Potentially affecting Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Waikato, East Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Northern Hawke’s Bay and expected to clear going into Friday, April 2.
