Environment Canada has lifted its severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa, but its heat warning remains place for a wide swath of eastern Ontario. The heat warning covers much of southern and eastern Ontario, including the Kingston area. Ottawa had been under a severe thunderstorm warning early Wednesday, with the potential for storms that could have brought hail and heavy rain. It was downgraded to a thunderstorm watch before being lifted Wednesday evening. Slightly cooler air is expected to move into eastern Ontario, but Saturday could still see "extreme heat" in Ottawa, the weather agency says.
