OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is thrilled to share the news that the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is awarding hosting rights to Thunder Bay, Ontario for the final stage of the IX Women's Baseball World Cup. Baseball Canada and the Thunder Bay International Baseball Association (TBIBA) will run the Local Organising Committee (LOC). The first stage of the IX Women's Baseball World Cup will involve 12 National Teams competing in two groups. Japan has won the last six editions of the Women's Baseball World Cup with the most recent event taking place in 2018 while the United States are the only other Women's Baseball World Champions (2006). The very first Women’s Baseball World Cup was held in Edmonton in 2004 and returned to the city again in 2012.
