Thrive Aoraki aims to address issues in education sector

Timaru St Joseph's School principal Carmel Brosnahan is one of the co-ordinators of the Thrive Aoraki initiative which offers learning workshops for education staff. Thrive Aoraki's creation is in response to the increasingly complex demands placed on those working in the education sector and aims to establish a series of collaborative workshops, to share, learn and support schools. It is based on, and similar to Grow Waitaha in Christchurch, a post earthquake programme guiding schools through educational change. Participant and Bluestone School teacher aide Michelle Silver said the workshops reinforced what she was doing in the classroom. The topics would be offered based on demand and need with middle leadership roles a possibility for a future workshop.
