more-inThree members of a Kalatgi-based family in Dharwad district were killed on the spot on Dharwad-Ramnagar road near Astoli village of Khanapur taluk on Sunday night. The deceased, including a two-year-old child, have been identified as Manjunath Banare (35), his wife Pavitra (30) and son Samarth. Khanapur Sub-Inspector Parashuram Pujeri said the accident occurred when a ten-wheeled canter-truck hit head-on the car in which the three were travelling from their native place to Goa. The accident was due to rash driving by the truck driver, who is absconding since the accident. Further investigation has been taken up and the police is on look out for the absconding driver.
