Three men caught in relation to Hawke's Bay credit card theftsANDREW QUILTY/FAIRFAX NZ Contactless credit cards are easy targets for thieves. Road spikes, a dog, and a phone call from the public came helped catch three credit card thieves in Hawke's Bay. Police arrested three men on Saturday who are believed to be related to vehicle break-ins at different parks and recreational areas across the region. The offenders were particularly targeting 'pay wave' (contactless) credit cards which they had then been using to purchase items, Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said. "We really want to thank the members of the public who have assisted us in locating these offenders," Pritchard said.
