Three Maoists were killed in an encounter with the Dantewada District Reserve Group early on Friday morning, Chhattisgarh police officials said. The encounter occurred on the Dantewada-Bijapur border, and arms and ammunition was recovered as well. The exchange of fire took place at around 6 am. Senior police officers said that the exchange of fire took place in the Kacheghat area on the Bijapur Dantewada border, under the jurisdiction of the Farsapal police station limits. The slain Maoists have been identified as Nishant, an area committee member, Manki alias Geeta, member of the Indravati National Park border company of the Maoists, and Soma alias Ajeet, who was the gunman to Maoist commander Pappa Rao, police said.
