PERLIS: Three members of a family committed suicide Thursday (Oct 18) because they were indebted and could not cope with the high cost of living. According to police reports, the bodies of a 66-year-old father, a 64-year-old mother and their 35-year-old daughter were found floating in the Kampung Belat Batu river in Perlis. Upon investigations, police found that the incident took place under the flyover of Lebuhraya Kuala Perlis Changloon Kg Belat Batu in Arau. The son revealed that his family intended to consume some form of poison and jump into the river. According to police reports, the motive behind the suicides were debt and the high cost of living.
