A South African couple left their home country to escape crime only to have it land on their front doorstep in New Zealand. "This is how it started when we were babies," Van Apple said. ANDY JACKSON/Fairfax NZ Ivan Venter and Leandra Van Apple are warning New Zealand about the increase of crime. "I am lucky I have my passport because in South Africa, you cannot enter the country without a birth certificate and a passport," Van Apple said.
