Three major global firms are competing for a National Transport Authority (NTA) project to allow passengers on Ireland’s trains, trams and buses to pay fares with their mobile phones or bank cards, the Sunday Independent has learned. Two US firms and one Spanish company are in the running for a next generation ticketing contract that could be worth hundreds of millions of euro.
