The arrest was announced at a press conference on Wednesday held by Provincial Police Bureau 8 commissioner Pol Lt-General Surasak Yenprem, Surat Thani police chief Pol Maj-General Apichart Boonsriroj and Surat Thani Governor Wichawut Jinto. The suspects were identified as Chayakorn Pichayakorn, 31, Suthee Onsuwan, 30, and Nattapong Limhoksee, 23. Surasak said the three had been arrested at a road checkpoint in Phunpin district at 5:20 am Tuesday. He said police staffing the checkpoint had stopped a pickup truck that was transporting coconuts and a policeman saw a suspicious bag, which contained the drugs. They said they had been paid Bt20,000 each to smuggle the drugs.
