Three adults and two children are in hospital after they were exposed to chlorine in a North York pool. There, firefighters said at least nine people evacuated a pool, reporting runny eyes and a sore throat. A man and two women were taken to hospital for serious non-life-threatening injuries, Toronto paramedics said, and two children were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The public health agency’s website adds swimming pool water that is not sanitized can give people illness, ear and stomach infections and skin rashes. Inhaling too much chlorine can cause difficulty breathing and coughing, according to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.
