SYDNEY—Three American firefighters were killed after their air-tanker crashed while battling wildfires ravaging southeastern Australia. In New South Wales, fire authorities said 84 blazes burned and nearly 40 were out of control. In parts of the town of Queanbeyan, near the airport, authorities said that it was too late to leave and that people should take shelter.
