In May 2016, Mumbai Nagrik Manch announced a political outfit featuring members of the public and declared that it will field 227 candidates across the city. Nagrik Adhikar Manch (NAM), the political arm of Mumbai Nagrik Manch, a social organisation has tied up with like-minded NGOs and fielded seven candidates for the upcoming polls. In May 2016, Mumbai Nagrik Manch announced a political outfit featuring members of the public and declared that it will field 227 candidates across the city. Those among the list of candidates include Priya Patil, a transgender who will contest from Kurla's Bail Bazaar (ward 166). Karunaben Valodra from ward 66 — Juhu Galli in Andheri West will campaign with support from Nagrik Adhikar Manch.
