The Canadiens have a history of bringing young players along slowly, but they could start the season with three 20-year-old rookies. Forward Nick Suzuki and defenceman Cale Fleury have won jobs and forward Ryan Poehling is poised to join them on the 23-man roster after recovering from a concussion. He’s a natural centre and the Canadiens have Phil Danault, Domi and Kotkaniemi on the top three lines. If the Canadiens can’t find a way to give Poehling significant ice time, he might be better off starting the season in Laval. The Canadiens have 27 healthy bodies in camp and must get down to the NHL limit of 23 by Tuesday.
