Four people have been killed and 628 families of more than 2500 members were stranded in the desert town of Ghat due to mass flooding caused by heavy rainfall. The Government of National Accord has declared a disaster in the town and allocated LYD 10 million dinars to the Ministry of Interior to send urgent aid supplies to help the stranded people, who were accommodated in four schools. The town has been left without power and water, adding more suffering to the people. Ghat Municipality has warned of a health disaster after sewage mixed with rainwater flooded the town’s residential areas.
