In the wake of a tragic van rampage that left 10 dead and 14 injured, fundraising campaigns have cropped up in support of the victims. The city has partnered with the Toronto Foundation to create a fund called #TorontoStrong. Due to a huge number of GoFundMe campaigns, the Toronto Foundation has paired up with the crowdsourcing website’s head office to see how they may co-ordinate their efforts, said Julia Howell, a representative for the Toronto Foundation. We guarantee all money goes to victims and families.” Hollis said money raised on GoFundMe is only released after the company has verified the campaigns. Family members of Amaresh Tesfamariam, who is among 14 injured in the van rampage, have set up a fundraising campaign for her recovery.
