Thousands of taxpayer-funded school lunches left uneaten by students


Thousands of taxpayer-funded school lunches are being left uneaten by students each week. It costs $5 for a primary school lunch and $7 for a secondary school lunch, and 199,501 students in New Zealand get them. Christel Yardley/Stuff Chicken pasta salad and grapes provided as part of the Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme. “If you really care about them, and they’re sending back 500 uneaten lunches, you want to know why.”Education Minister Chris Hipkins told Stuff he was not concerned by the leftover lunches.
