Up to 25,000 jobs could be at risk on foot of Britain’s departure from the EU, the head of Enterprise Ireland said. Julie Sinnamon was speaking yesterday as the agency announced its results for 2018 which showed unprecedented levels of employment were generated by its client companies. Of the sectors that Enterprise Ireland is involved in, the food industry is the most exposed to any Brexit fallout, Ms Sinnamon said, given that sector’s heightened dependence on exports to the UK. “For anybody who isn’t counting, we certainly are,” Ms Sinnamon said. She added that as far as Brexit was concerned, Enterprise Ireland was operating a “no regrets” policy, so that at the very least its client companies would be prepared for a no-deal scenario.
