Thousands flock to Bukit Jalil for Asean Para Games opening


KUALA LUMPUR: Rain this afternoon dampened the early mood but thousands of spectators have already begun to flood into the National Stadium at Bukit Jalil for the opening ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Asean Para Games. Many took the chance to take have their pictures taken with the stadium in the background in addition to enjoying the delicacies available at the food truck section. Hundred of volunteers, who have been trained to assist the disabled, were also on hand to help within the stadium compound. The opening ceremony, which will start at 8.15pm, will see Paralympic champions Ziyad Zolkefli, Abdul Latif Romly and Ridzuan Puzi as flag bearers for Malaysia in addition to many other para greats taking part in the event. Singer Yuna is scheduled to make a much anticipated performance while Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will also be in attendance.
