“Nomadland” won a ridiculous amount of Best Picture and Best Director awards from international film festivals to the ultra-high-profile Golden Globes and Academy Awards. The win also made history as Chloe Zhao became the first Asian woman to win the Best Director Oscar. The film is adapted from a 2017 book by journalist and author Jessica Bruder, Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty First Century. They move from town to town, sometimes with a group, sometimes alone. I know fairy tales might be escapist but there’s still something in a good tale we can relate to somehow.
