Thomas Hardiman, shown in November, is a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Judge Thomas M. Hardiman, one of three leading contenders to be named by President Trump to the Supreme Court , is a conservative jurist from Pittsburgh with a personal story not unlike many of the blue-collar voters who catapulted Trump to the White House. The son of a cab driver and the product of public schools in Waltham, Mass., Hardiman, 51, put himself through Georgetown Law School by driving a taxi.
