That’s according to a BBC Sport report, which has claimed that discussions over a £340million deal are “advanced”. The consortium is being led by Amanda Staveley, who failed with a takeover two years ago. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley said last summer that he could own the club “forever”. And the BBC quote a source “familiar with the discussions” as saying: “Ashley doesn’t need to sell, and he’s unpredictable.”
