Forget massive high-riding American trucks, the ute you really want is the one-of-six Peugeot 505 Pick-Up Double Cabine Gruau. It was offered with either a tonneau or hard canopy and retained the 505 station wagon’s five seats and four doors. The ute could carry a maximum of 675kg, which is probably enough for most leisure ute buyers. Supplied The 505 ute had a full retrim and restoration before it went up for auction. The ute sold at the Aguttes auction earlier this month for €27,300 (NZ$45,841), or around five grand less than the cheapest double-cab Ford Ranger.
