Last night I was honoured to become an MEP for the Brexit Party in the East of England. I must admit there was an element of relief: when you’ve spent six weeks totally immersed in a campaign there’s always the possibility that you’ve become so caught up in all the effort and the drama that you’ve somehow misjudged your prospects of success. Any nerves I might have had were already dissipating by the time the results for my area were declared in Chelmsford just after 10.45pm.
