Robot grocery deliveries could be coming to an address near you following a successful trial by the Co-op. The company launched the shopping droids last year in Milton Keynes – and in recent weeks has extended the scheme to a second store in the town. The robots then travel along pavements alongside pedestrians for up to two miles from the stores at a speed of 4mph. The groceries are locked inside a compartment which can only be opened by the customer with an app on their smartphone. Tesco and Just Eat have also tested the devices and Starship believes they could eventually also be used as a courier service in cities.
