This Week In Sports Law: Eli Manning Memorabilia, Arm Wrestling, St. Louis Lawsuit

Emails turned over by Manning as part of a pending lawsuit have been labeled "potentially incriminating," as they may reveal that he knowingly provided false game-worn memorabilia for sale. The underlying lawsuit was filed in 2015 by a group of memorabilia collectors who claim that Manning was part of a scheme to distribute and sell fraudulent memorabilia. Perhaps even more surprising than the emails is that Manning did not settle the lawsuit before being required to produce them. Specifically, St. Louis claims that the standards of NFL team relocation was violated and that the Rams breached their contract with the city. It shifts the law from potentially considering daily fantasy sports as online gambling to a legal offering.
