This Week In Boxing Biz: HBO, Showtime Battles Over Joshua-Klitschko, Shakur Stevenson Update

In the leadup to the April 29 Anthony Joshua-Wladimir Klitschko fight, another long-term showdown has been brewing. It’s a battle between HBO and Showtime, and both sides seem confident that they’ll be the one to feature the most anticipated heavyweight championship fight in years. Klitschko has been an HBO fighter for years, but Joshua has a multi-fight contract with Showtime, which clearly has big plans for him. At this point, HBO, if it were to win the rights, would show the fight on the network and not on PPV. “If I told you there was an Olympic gold medalist, English-speaking, good-looking, articulate, an impressive boxer with great punching power, any network would see the opportunity in that,” Espinoza told Forbes last June.
