Now, a study suggests that the key to slowing the ageing process may lie in a Japanese plant, known as Ashitaba. Researchers rom the University of Graz in Austria have found that a compound found in the plant, called DMC, could extend our lifespans. In the study, which is published in Nature Communications , the researchers gave DMC to fruit flies , worms and mice. The researchers added: “Future studies must explore whether DMC and/or its chemically defined derivatives can be advantageously used in humans as well.”
